A most beautiful book has just been published. It is called 'Wineland' and is a photographic portfolio of Israeli vineyards and wineries. It comes in a large coffee table format, with a hard cover
. There are 288 pages crammed with the most beautiful photographs covering every aspect of wine. They illustrate the winegrowing and winemaking process, reflect the changes through the seasons and focus on the different stages from the budding of the vine onwards. The differences of the wine regions are made clear with some wonderful panoramic photographs which show Israel wine country with a beauty not always appreciated by wine lovers or connoisseurs. The talented photographer is Ilan Nachum, an artist with many accomplishments to his name.
Ilan Nachum was born in Jerusalem in 1960. He graduated from the film department at Beit Zvi School of Performing Arts and worked for over twenty years in the local and international film industry. He shot films for National Geographic, Discovery, Arte, the History Channel and others, and served as television consultant to the opera singer Jessye Norman, shot hundreds of local commercials, dramas and documentaries. He has also been teaching and lecturing film and still photography for over fifteen years. In the mid 2000's he returned to his sources and made further development in still photography. His commercial work is published mainly in gastronomical, design and architecture books and magazines. His art work has been displayed in several group and solo exhibitions in Israel and abroad. In 2014 he published his book 'Tel Aviv', another beautiful book conveying the color, spirit and soul of Tel Aviv.
'Wineland' is in English & Hebrew, though there is very little text, and the story is told in photos. It would be a wonderful gift for the wine lover who has everything, or for anyone from overseas who has not yet been exposed to the beautiful Israel.
