Golan Heights Winery recently was named Best Foreign Winery at the Prague Trophy 2008 international wine competition. At a gala ceremony on January 16, 2009, the Winery received the award after winning a total of seven medals at the competition. This annual event is organized by Vino Revue, the prestigious Czech magazine.

The award was presented to Mr. Ivan Lacko, owner of ILT, which imports Golan Heights Winery wines to the Czech and Slovak Republics. Held at the historic B?evnov Monastery in Prague, the event attracted a large and enthusiastic audience of wine professionals, journalists, politicians, businesspeople and other lovers of fine wine.

Considered one of the best wine competitions in the Czech Republic, Prague Trophy is a truly international event, with some three quarters of the wine coming from abroad. Tasting over 700 wines originating from 26 countries, this year’s committee featured Master of Wine John Umberto Salvi, a world authority on wine.

This latest award follows Golan Heights Winery’s previous success at Prague Trophy 2007, when the 2003 Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon earned the Champion award among competing Cabernet Sauvignons.
