The New Israeli Wine Guide 2015 has been released. It was launched appropriately at Tasting Room. The guide is the initiative of wine journalist and critic Yair Gath and sommelier, Gal Zohar. Yair Gath writes for Israel Hayom, one of Israel’s main daily newspapers. Gal Zohar is an international sommelier of some repute, who is also a wine consultant and judge in international competitions.

The introduction to the guide was written by wine industry veteran, Adam Montefiore. He wrote: "Israel deserves a good wine guide which has credibility and is produced annually. The credibility comes from those doing the tasting, and this tasting duo, have it in spades."

The guide was produced from tasting wines from forty one wineries. The wines were tasted blind in totally professional conditions.

The first year the guide was released for anyone to download on the internet. This year, the guide comes at a cost of 35 shekels. A copy may be bought at Shishko Bar, (Har Sinai 2, Tel Aviv). More details from facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NewIsraeliWineGuide

  1. Doron Ben Avraham says:

This is a terribly bad guide to Israeli wines; it’s incomplete and biased

  2. Jacob says:

I was going to purchase this guide until I heard that the authors would not list the wines from Judea and samaria or from any settlement. i therefore am not interested in purchasing a political wine guide. They should be ashamed that they are boycotting their own country
