Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate has tasted three varietals produced by negociant wine company, Rich Fuchelli, and labelled ‘Ya-yin.’ The tasting notes are very complimentary. The wines were tasted by Mark Squires. Extracts are printed below.
YA-YIN MARSELAN, JUDEAN HILLS, Rich Fuchelli 2015
“It has a fresh feel, a lively demeanor and tasty fruit. There is also a garrigue nuance on the nose and palate. The red fruit flavors are lifted beautifully and delivered to the palate with authority. At the moment, it is a complete pleasure.”
YA-YIN MALBEC, JUDEAN HILLS, Rich Fuchelli 2015
“Very aromatic, laced with beefy-cum-eggplant nuances, this has a lot of personality and some bite on the finish. It drinks well and is beautifully balanced.”
YA-YIN SHIRAZ, JUDEAN HILLS, Rich Fuchelli 2012
Graceful and fresh, this is a bright and lively Shiraz that has a little bit of Syrah and a bit of a bite on the finish, too. It drinks beautifully now. It is a perfect food wine. It is in great shape and should continue to hold well for several years.”
Ya-yin is the Hebrew for wine, which appears throughout the Bible. It is the root word for the Western word ‘wine’. Ya-yin is a label created and owned by Rich Fuchelli. Rich Fuchelli is a negociant Israeli wine company devoted to sourcing fine wines. The wines are chosen after exhaustive tastings from a variety of vineyards. The objective is to work with varieties well suited to Israel’s climate.
Rich Fuchelli is owned by Ronhi Shang Arieli, who has many years’ experience in the food & beverage industry and a love of wine, inspired by a grandfather, a winemaker and connoisseur, from Shiraz, in Iran.
Ya-yin wines are already exported to America, Japan and the Far East, as well as being sold in Israel’s largest retail chain. The label reflects two symbols of Ancient Israel, the mosaic and amphora.
