David Gronich joins the team more »

Oded Shoham is pleased to announce that David Gronich will be representing ‘Handcrafted Wines of Israel’ (HWI) in the North of Israel. This is a prestige group of boutique wineries and cult wines. These include Margalit Winery, Clos de Gat, Bar-Maor Winery, Jacques Capsouto Vignobles, Gros Winery – Shoham Wines, Jerusalem Wineries’ Montefiore Windmill wines and Sam Soroka’s individual expression Fertile Crescent.

David Gronich, a resident of Haifa, (ex F & B Manager of Hilton Tel Aviv, The Scots Hotel in Israel and both Marriot & Hilton Hotels in USA), was for over 12 years working with Carmel Winery & Yatir Winery, firstly as Hotel & Restaurant Division Manager and then as Wine Education Manager. During this period, he contributed significantly to the ‘professional wine marketing’, both with creative ideas and the implementation of new concepts. He is now in demand as a consultant in his three areas of expertise: Hospitality, Food & Beverage Operations and Wine.  He manages his own tasting room and wine education center in downtown Haifa, Winelist.co.il and will market HWI alongside his excellent portfolio of Lurton imported wines.

HWI is the marketing subsidiary of ‘The Israel Wine Experience’ (IWE), founded & managed by Oded Shoham, which educates about Israeli wine by providing tutored tastings, winery visits, wine workshops, wine dinners and lectures in Israel and overseas. Born in Israel and raised in America, Oded (ex Tzora, Naftali, Barkan, Carmel, Tiv Taam etc), is one of Israel’s most experienced wine personalities. He has been a grower, planted a vineyard, launched a boutique winery, worked for large wineries in import, export and in the local market. He has been a retailer in a wine shop and worked for a supermarket chain. He gathered together the wineries in HWI and now also makes his own wine in partnership with a winery.

David Gronich joins a team full of experience including wine trade veteran Adam Montefiore (ex Carmel and Golan Heights Winery), Oded’s partner in IWE, and Lior Eckerling (assistant winemaker at Margalit Winery, who has also done harvests at Tzora Vineyards.)

David Gronich said: “I am pleased to be representing such a quality range of Israeli wines and will enjoy marketing them in a region I know well. It is a natural fit for me, allowing me time with my consultancy work and other interests.” Oded Shoham said “We have an A team and David Gronich is one of the most knowledgeable wine people there are. We are proud to have him in the team.”
