Nurit Shamir is the new CEO more »

Nurit Shamir has been appointed as the new CEO of Hacarem Spirits. She replaces Ariel Epstein who has been CEO for the last 30 years. He will continue as chairman of the board of directors. Today the company is still a family firm as it passes to the 4th generation.  Nurit Shamir, nee Epstein, was previously Deputy CEO.

Hacarem is the oldest wine and spirit importer – distributor in Israel. They import, market & distribute wine, spirits, beer and lately coffee too. Hacarem was founded in 1921 by Israel Epstein. The company started by importing empty barrels to Palestine from Egypt, and then later beer. Ariel’s father, Amiel Epstein z”l, managed the company from 1952. Next year they will be celebrating their 100 year anniversary.

Today is it is one of the largest importers and distributors in Israel. They employ 180 people and their turnover is 300 million shekels a year. They focus on wine, spirits, beer and lately coffee too.

Their spirits brands include Grants, Glenfiddich, Balvenie whisky, Stolli Vodka, Remy Martin, Grand Marnier, Jim Beam, Tullamore Dew and Hendricks.

Wineries they represent include Antinori, Torres, Bollinger, Chapoutier…….amongst many others.   As far as Israeli wineries are concerned, they distribute Dalton and Vitkin wines. They own the Negev Brewery and are partners with Malka Brewery, two of Israel’s craft brewers and distribute a range of international brands including Budweiser and Becks.

Along with Shaked Bros, Hacarem is one of two most important importers & distributors of wine & spirits in Israel. It remains a family business. Ariel Epstein as chairman, Nurit Shamir (nee Epstein) as CEO and Ronit Avner (nee Epstein) as Deputy CEO – Marketing, will continue to ensure that this 100 year business, rare in Israel, will continue as a family operation.
